The construction of a two-story home using the StarModul system represents a qualitative leap forward in modern residential construction. Our method is based on a patented system of bolted connectors that completely eliminates the need for on-site welding. This allows us to erect complex, robust, multi-story steel structures with millimeter precision, without requiring specialized heavy metalwork labor or the long lead times associated with traditional construction.
Stages of the Construction Process
The success of our projects begins with design and technical planning. We develop a detailed study—typically using BIM—that optimizes the use of modular kits. During this critical phase, loads are calculated, the exact layout of the structural members is defined, and connections are planned to ensure the structural stability of both levels.
Next, the base structure is erected. The ground floor is assembled using the high-strength profiles and connectors included in the initial kit. The key lies in achieving perfect leveling and a solid mechanical anchorage to the foundation. Since it is a system of bolted connectors, assembly is quick, clean, and allows for immediate structural verification.
Once the foundation is secured, the second story is erected. To do this, we use our specialized expansion kits, whose components are designed to efficiently transfer vertical loads to the foundation, integrating seamlessly with the lower structure and ensuring the building’s structural continuity. Finally, the light-gauge steel structure facilitates the integration of utilities and finishes. The kits are designed to accommodate electrical and plumbing lines inside the walls, eliminating the need for wall chases and streamlining the installation of interior and exterior finishes for complete customization.
Competitive Advantages and Structural Safety
This system offers clear benefits: the elimination of curing times drastically shortens the construction schedule, and since it does not require heavy machinery, it optimizes the budget. In addition, the modular nature of the system provides scalability, facilitating future expansions.
When designing a multi-story home, structural safety is the top priority. The StarModul system uses galvanized steel profiles with a high yield strength that offer a much better strength-to-weight ratio than traditional materials. This means the home is much lighter, reducing the load on the foundation while maintaining extraordinary rigidity against strong winds or seismic activity.
High-rise construction using our system ensures strict compliance with the Technical Building Code (CTE). Load transfer between the upper and lower floors is achieved through continuous vertical studs and distribution beams designed to prevent deformation. This, combined with the inclusion of thermal and acoustic insulation in the intermediate floor slab, ensures that the home is not only safe and stable but also offers complete acoustic comfort and superior energy efficiency in every room.
